Vision Therapy

Vision Therapy is a doctor-supervised, non-surgical, individualized treatment program designed to correct certain vision problems or enhance and improve visual skills.

Our doctors believe some vision problems cannot be corrected with glasses or contact lenses (which help focus light properly to provide a clear image). Eye surgery alters the anatomy of the surrounding muscles to make eyes appear straight. Vision therapy engages the brain and visual motor feedback to help create new neural pathways which can help improve the following conditions:

  • Eye Alignment / Strabismus / Eye Turns / Lazy Eye / Double Vision
  • Eye Teaming / Convergence Insufficiency / Poor Binocularity / Double Vision / Blur
  • Eye Focusing Abilities / Accommodative Insufficiency / Inability to clear near to far targets
  • Amblyopia / Brain Trauma Rehabilitation / Sports Vision Enhancement

Learn more about Vision Therapy.

Vision therapy is like physical therapy for the entire visual system by improving the efficiency between the eyes and the brain.

Vision therapy includes the use of lenses, prisms, filters, computerized visual activities, and non-computerized viewing instruments. Visual-motor skills and endurance are developed and reinforced to become reflexive or automatic through repetition and neural integration.

Vision is an integral part of learning. Vision therapy can correct vision problems that interfere with efficient reading among school-aged children. If the visual system functions inadequately, reading becomes cumbersome and difficult. When the visual system functions efficiently, reading and learning can be enjoyed without struggle. Vision therapy does not treat learning disabilities.

It is our goal to treat vision problems that cannot be treated successfully with eyeglasses, contact lenses, and/or surgery alone, and help people achieve clear comfortable binocular vision.

Thumbs up and stars

“I have been going to the same eye doctor for quite literally the last 20 years. He recently retired, so I chose to switch to Isthmus Eye Care. WOW - I had no idea what I was missing. Isthmus Eye Care has the most up-to-date, innovative equipment and helpful people imaginable. I was honestly blown away by the efficiency and friendliness of the staff, as well as the ease with which my eye exam was conducted. Couldn't recommend more highly.”
